One entrepreneur's love for quippy remarks and great graphic design soon became Amethyst Apparel, a company that prints original designs onto the comfiest cottons. The next step? A vibrant brand to take the company to market. With the vibe of Amethyst Apparel being what it was, it was evident that the visual identity would need to pack a major punch.
Polishing a Gem
Jenna, the owner, is a nature lover to the core. We wanted to develop a name and visual identity that was truly a fit. It would need to represent her creative chops while also alluding to her love of the wild. Since the pieces of clothing themselves are all gems, we landed on the name Amethyst Apparel.
Inspired by inspecting true amethyst crystals, we got to work on a brand that would perfectly represent the artistry of Amethyst Apparels designs. We became inspired by the beauty of the amethyst and the shapes of the crystals to craft something that would capture its essence. The colour palette was created to resemble the amethyst’s striations as they move from white, to ice blue, to shimmering purple, to a deep indigo. The script font was chosen for its lightheartedness and flow. The result is a brand mark that is multi-faceted, free-spirited, and totally unique.
The supporting creative elements draw heavily from the angular lines and violet-indigo colour palette. The geometric shape and the vibrancy of the brand create a formula for an ever-evolving brand that will remain fresh over time.
